Guiding Students on Their Journey to and Through College

At Cristo Rey Research Triangle High School, our dedicated college counseling program guides students through every step of their higher education journey. We believe that every student deserves access to quality higher education, and our comprehensive support system makes that belief a reality. Through our career and college readiness curriculum, which starts in ninth grade, students can increase their understanding of the college process and build the skills necessary to persist to college graduation.

Cristo Rey RT understands that our students sometimes face enormous challenges unrelated to academics that nevertheless impede their classroom learning and growth. Our school counselors are here to respond to the personal and family needs of each of our students, help them overcome any obstacles, offer support and advice to students, meet with students, parents, and/or faculty and staff to resolve problems and may refer students and families to appropriate agencies for support.

A proud graduate of Sacred Heart University(Fairfield, CT), Kayla brings over 12 years of experience in college access and retention. As a first-generation college graduate, she understands firsthand the challenges students face in navigating the college process—and she’s passionate about guiding them through it with knowledge, confidence, and purpose.

“I’m excited to join the team at CRRT, where I can continue doing the work I’m most passionate about, empowering students to pursue higher education and the careers of their dreams. This mission is deeply personal to me,” says Kayla Bailey. When she’s not helping students build bold futures, you might catch Kayla enjoying her favorite feel-good song: “Happy” by Pharrell. We’re so glad to have her energy, expertise, and heart on campus!

CRRT hosts small group sessions for students during their lunch or intervention periods, where they will meet college representatives from across the country.  These sessions are intended to assist students in learning about what colleges offer and what college admissions representatives look for when they review incoming applications.
