Welcome to CRRTHS Freshman Training

We’re so excited to welcome you to the Bull City Business Institute (BCBI) — the beginning of your Cristo Rey journey! This two-week summer program is designed to equip you with the foundational skills, knowledge, and confidence you’ll need to succeed both in the classroom and in the workplace. 

Over the course of this immersive training, you’ll learn what it means to be a Cristo Rey student: from understanding our core values and school culture to preparing for your professional role through our Corporate Work Study Program. You’ll meet your classmates, build community, and gain practical tools that will help you shine during your first job placement.

Below are answers to some frequently asked questions to help you and your family feel confident and prepared:

What are the times for the program each day?

Bull City Business Institute begins each day at 7:50 AM and runs until 2:00 pm.  Daily attendance is required for both weeks. 

What will new students need to bring for the program?
What to bring: a backpack, folders (3) for any loose handouts, a notebook, a large binder, and pens/pencils. You will be issued your Chromebook on day one along with your email address.

 

Do new students need to wear the CRRTHS uniform?

Students are expected to be in full dress code at all times while on campus. This includes:

  • A white button-down shirt with the CRRTHS logo,
  • Charcoal or black dress pants,
  • Dress shoes or clean sneakers,
  • A belt, and
  • A tie (any school-appropriate tie is acceptable).

 NO Crocs, Yeezy’s or sandals. 

What is the Tie Ceremony?

Until the tie ceremony, you will wear any tie you have at home or a borrowed one from school.  The Cristo Rey tie is symbolic of the work you do academically and through the work-study program. The Tie Ceremony is the presentation ceremony of your earned Cristo Rey tie after BCBI.

 

Will new students have bus rides taking us to the school?

Normal school bus routes will be running.  The front desk has the routes.

What will new students be going over in the program?

Over the course of two weeks, you will complete the required Department of Labor Training, learn school and work study policies/procedures, learn soft & hard skills necessary for you to be successful in your work study assignment, etc.
