Phil Ford is one of the most celebrated basketball players in UNC history. Named one of the ACC’s Top 10 Male Athletes of All Time, he held UNC’s career scoring record for 31 years with 2,290 points and ranks third in career assists with 753.

A three-time first-team All-American, he was ACC Player of the Year and National Player of the Year in 1978, an Olympic gold medalist in 1976, and the NBA’s Rookie of the Year. He was also inducted into the NABC College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012.

Beyond his legendary career in basketball, Mr. Ford has brought the same excellence and leadership to his role on the Cristo Rey Research Triangle Board of Directors, where he has served since 2021. His dedication to our mission and his steadfast support of our students and families have been instrumental in launching and sustaining our school.
